MARBAS in collaboration with the Princeton University Library is excited to announce the Spring 2024 'PUL&MARBAS present' event series, which explores Princeton’s vast holdings of rare books, manuscripts, and archives.
This talk will look at some of the several hundred Mamluk coins in the Princeton University Library, whick are likely the largest institutional collection of this dynasty in the USA yet to be incorporated into the field of Mamluk numismatic and monetary studies. In particular, the PUL material includes large numbers of silver dirhams and copper fulūs from the early 9th/15th century when major transformations of the coinage took place.
The sessions begin at 5pm with a short presentation, followed by a Q&A and libations.
