Information: A Historical Companion, new volume co-edited by Anthony Grafton, has been published by Princeton University Press.

This collaborative volume traces the evolution of human approaches to gathering, storing and processing information from 1450 until the present. Thirteen chapters discuss the role of information in pivotal epochs and regions including the medieval Islamic world, late imperial East Asia, early modern and modern Europe and modern North America, followed by more than one hundred alphabetical entries on tools and concepts including coins, scrolls, books, office memos, and social media; cameras, computers, lithographs; and censorship, intellectual property and  plagiarism.
